Sound of The Sirens

‘Sound Of The Sirens’ are a foot stomping, tear jerking, crowd engaging female folk/rock duo who’s strengths lie in their passion, conviction and chemistry.

It doesn’t matter what they do, they will always make great sounding music together.
— Listen with Monger blog

These girls know exactly how to rock a stage and make you believe every word they are singing. Individually their voices tell their own tale, and when blended together in harmony, they will regularly have your spine tingling and leave you wanting for much more.

The versatility of their song writing skills will take you on an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. They will steal your attention with furious paced, arms in the air festival anthems that will be in your head for days. They will take you away on their journey with their infectious catchy songs that all have elements to them that you wouldn’t find on most entire albums.

After winning 2013’s South West Music Award for ‘Best Acoustic Act’ and media interest growing, Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood are doing it the only way they know how – the real way. This has earned them a strong and loyal fan base due to their dedication and consistency. They have grafted at their art for 5 years gigging, writing and recording, growing together in harmony to create a unique, convincing and tangible act to show to the world.

Jenny Lockyer

Jenny has an ear for a folk melody and makes room for some comedy too.

But surely she should be on the telly? Her stuff’s SO funny and so brilliantly performed...
— MJ Hibbett

Jenny has travelled all over performing her original songs in all sorts of places including variety and cabaret nights, music and comedy gigs, school assemblies, churches, radio, bars, clubs and people's living rooms.  She likes singing songs and doing things that make people laugh. Sometimes people give her money. Whether it's money for a cd, money to keep singing or money to be quiet is of no consequence. It's still money. To celebrate her 30th birthday, Jenny performed 30 gigs in a month for charity raising £2k for the brilliant Children's Trust. So that was a nice bit of money. Just not for her.

Jenny has gigged with Will Self, Shazia Mirza, Paul Kerensa, Adam Buxton, Henning Wehn, Sara Pascoe and has stood very close to Richard Herring. Unlike before where they shared a gig and she got all nervous being in the same room as a famous person, Jenny supported Tim Vine for a couple of Edinburgh previews last summer and she actually talked to him. She's found out he had a guest appearance on Neighbours. She's well jealous.

People have said some good things about Jenny's music. The guys at Kooba Radio say, “beautiful lullaby vocals, ear for a folk melody and incisive comedy wit”   This seems a pretty good thing to end on really :-)

Julie Price

A Scottish musician, writer and campaigner, chasing her dreams wherever they take her…

In late 2013, Julie Price decided to ditch the 9-5 world and run away to the Scottish Highlands to do more of the things that make her happy.

One of those things is making music. Coming from a family of musicians, Julie always thought that performing in public was something that other people did. It wasn’t until she found the courage to audition for The L Project’s second charity single, “We’re All Human”, that she realised she might finally be ready to play for audiences other than her pet tortoise.

When Julie isn’t singing, she can usually be found wrestling with her debut novel or campaigning on LGBT+ issues. She led a successful Twitter campaign to force the International Olympic Committee to remove homophobic language from their social media policy, has coordinated efforts to close down anti-gay Facebook pages and wrote an open letter on equal marriage for The L Project’s blog, which gained global attention after being described as “simply marvellous” by Stephen Fry.

Being an L Project artist is Julie’s proudest achievement to date and she hopes, as someone who was a fan of the first song and gained hope and confidence from its message, that her story might inspire others to follow their own dreams.

As with her writing and campaigning, Julie sings from the heart and plays the songs she loves; with influences including Alanis Morissette, K.T. Tunstall and Brandi Carlile. She is also currently working on original material.

D’lys

London based indie/soul singer-songwriter with a voice that silences a crowd, performing a stripped back acoustic show.

D’lys has one of those voices that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end! She recently performed live and acoustically on my show and her album has been on repeat in my car ever since!
— John Govier, BBC Radio

Striking singer/songwriter D’lys ended 2013 performing to a star studded audience at The Old Vic Theatre’s Celebrity Gala, hosted by actor Kevin Spacey.

A regular performer on, and championed by, BBC Radio, they describe her only as “superb” and extol her debut album “Find Me An Angel”, co written  with producer Robin Barter;  behind Sonique’s platinum selling album ‘Hear My Cry’ amongst other successes.

Often called a ‘Modern Day Tracy Chapman’ D’lys’s songs emanate from her soul with an intimacy that silences a crowd. Her hauntingly beautiful voice, catchy melodies and poignant lyrics have been captivating UK audiences in prestigious venues such as The 02 Academy and The London Bush Hall.

She has performed alongside many household names including multi-platinum selling ‘The Streets’ vocalist Leo, Joss Stone’s band ‘Yes Sir Boss’, & Middle Eastern sensation Yasmine Hamden.

Over the summer, D’lys is set to share festival bills with Rebecca Ferguson, The Jacksons, The Overtones, and many other established artists, ending the season with performances in Europe, New York & San Francisco.

Combining influences as diverse as Coldplay, Julio Iglesias & Sade, D’lys’s indie/soul/pop music is a magical all-encompassing celebration of the trials and treasures in life.

Some girls are born to perform!
— DIVA

Al Start’s melodies are soulful and incredibly catchy: her strong, rhythmic guitar style provides the perfect balance. Entertaining both adults and children alike, Al is right at home on stage. The Beastie Band are Al’s great little folky five-piece band comprise of guitars - electric/acoustic/tenor; mandolin, bazuki, banjo, ukulele, bass, percussion & drums and layers of lush harmonies.

The band are all good friends and have played together for many years and have an effortless blend.

Al’s main focus is the songwriting itself, “I can remember making up songs each night as a small child and singing them relentlessly to my poor sister!” She even went back to college in 2003 (Brighton Institute of Modern Music - BIMM) to study it in depth for a year. Here her writing caught the eye of Squeeze’s Chris Difford who invited Al to several residential songwriting courses. This gave her the opportunity to co-write with top industry writers such as Helen Boulding (Alex Parks), Matt Deighton (Oasis/Mother Earth), John Hammond-Hagan (Liberty X) and Jill Sobule.

Her songs tell unusual stories; describe situations we can all identify with, conjure images, stir memories and evoke emotions. Her first solo album, GO is a treasure trove of personal stories, childhood memories and the beautiful production (Tracey Field) makes the most of every word and note.

Next solo release, ‘I Heart History’ is a collection of songs Al wrote while on a residency at Brighton & Hove Museum. Six Months as a researcher saw Al in her element uncovering hidden and little known stories from Brighton’s colourful past. “Each song tells a true story; secrets and tragedy, murder and mystery, places and people - murderers, poisoners, impostors, lovers….who knew Brighton’s past was quite so dark?”

Al has toured the UK solo and with folk songstress Belinda O’Hooley (O’Hooley & Tidow) and Australian indie-rocker Nat Ripepi. She played support to one of her early influences & musical role models (and amazing gay icon) Horse on a massive UK tour and built a strong following across the nation. Two trips to the US and a solo tour of the East Coast USA followed. Americans loved the kooky storytelling Brit!

Al has played to huge audiences like Trafalgar Square for Euro Pride, and is quite at home on stage. She has recently branched out into writing and producing children’s musicals with Nicola Bloom, she has recorded 6 children’s albums and produced 2 books. Adult shows are still very much on the agenda, though being a mum of a tiny tearaway has limited touring temporarily! Plenty of new material is building towards a new folk-influenced album for 2014 and the band has never sounded better.

We're a punk/rock band from the West Midlands and we love composing our own music as well as covering our idols' music..with a twist!  We are two 14-year-olds who met at school, became good friends and then decided to form Promise. Molly sings and is also a very talented dancer. Annabell plays guitar but has recently started adding her voice to some of the recordings. Annabell loves playing guitar more than life itself and is the proud owner of 6 guitars at the tender age of 14!

Since forming in 2013 we have played at L Fest on the 'New to you' stage and won 'New To You' Artist/Band of 2013. Following on from our appearance at L Fest we were invited to play at L Festive at The Nightingale Club, Birmingham. We really enjoy what we do and hope to continue for as long as possible.

Never The Bride are an absolutely brilliant band. There is no doubt about the fact - these immensely talented women bring such passion and intensity to what they do.
— Bob Harris

Never The Bride's unique music is an eclectic fusion of Rock and Blues, always from the heart and guaranteed to raise not only the roof but the Soul. Bristol-born Nikki Lamborn, an intense singer with radiant charisma, is magnificently accompanied by multi-gifted Glaswegian pianist Catherine 'Been' Feeney.  Together they have written, recorded and toured internationally for over 25 years with an awe-inspiring who’s who of music.

Celebrated songwriters and producers, their song "The Living Tree" was a hit for Dame Shirley Bassey and they masterminded her memorable Glastonbury appearance and produced her memorable Top Ten album "Get The Party Started." DSB found them "inspirational," as did fellow diva Liza Minnelli, who joined them on stage in New York to profess her love of their music during the recent tour of USA. Roger Daltrey described Nikki's voice as the "best rock since Janis Joplin."

They have written and recorded an impressive body of music which together with videos and much more can be enjoyed on their website.

Hailing from the Midlands (and New York), the ladies of Eeek met each other one by one, playing together in a variety of different bands over the past decade before finally forming Eeek in 2008. Their shared musical history and strong friendships are very apparent as the band seem to naturally fit together to form the unique Eeek sound. Eeek's original songs, with their thoughtful lyrics and engaging melodies, are built in the tradition of powerful female songwriters like Stevie Nicks and Patti Smith. In March 2013, Eeek released their first EP, with tracks that explore the mystical connection between love, loss and bowling. The EP has been well-received, particularly by Eeek's faithful and increasing group of fans, affectionately known as FrEeeks (friends of Eeek). Eeek are shortly returning to the studio to finish off their first full length album.

Lucy and Mandy had the pleasure and honour of recording with The L Project collective on the  LGBT charity single ‘We’re all Human’.

We have new album, "Love, Loss & Bowling" out on general release and available on iTunes.
