Hannah Silva

  • L Fest 2017 LE12 5SQ (map)

Hannah Silva is a poet, playwright and performer known for her innovative explorations of form, voice and language in performance. Her poetry performances are often composed with a loop station, drawing out the textures and frictions of sound and sense.

Her debut poetry collection Forms of Protest (Penned in the Margins, 2013) has been widely praised and was Highly Commended in the Forward Prizes. Ian McMillan described her work on Radio 3’s The Verb as using ‘techniques like cut-up and collage, sound poetry and physical theatre to create something that’s unique but nods to older forms like shamanism, pre-religious ceremonies, Dadaism, and the kinds of games that children play with language.’
