Cunning Linguists Poetry - Bethany Rose

Beth is a spoken word poet and educator. She writes about philosophy, loss, gender, astrophysics, sexuality, politics and the body. She lives in East London and performs in venues across the country, and on an international scale. Beth recently featured alongside Kate Tempest in DIVA as one of the leading poets in her field, and is the GENESIS slam winner. She has been the headline act in performance venues across the world, headlining sell out performances from places such as at the Poetry Cafe in Covent Garden, the Phoenix Theatre in the West-End, the writers Festival in Melbourne Australia, and Le Chat Noir in Paris.

Her work has been published in numerous anthologies and magazines. You can listen to her work on iTunes, read her poems in the upcoming London Spoken Word Anthology, or watch a video of her performing her poems 'Evolution' and 'Rainbow' for Prowl House Publications.

Her poetry has featured alongside with Andrew Motion, the former poet laureate, in the Victoria and Albert museum, and she regularly features on the London Spoken Word scene, with performances at Spoken Word London, Forget what you heard, NSFW, Spaeken Shoreditch, Spout Shoreditch, and many more.

Beth has spoken on Broken Verb Radio and Hoxton FM about the strong links between poetry and mental health. She recently spoke at Congress Hall, about LGBT issues and how poetry can be used as a catharsis for people with bipolar disorder. She runs workshops for young people who have trouble accessing mainstream education, and often performs at charity functions, most recently for MIND, CalAid and Oxjam. She has taught workshops all over the world, in places such as The Royal Shakespeare Company in Paris, to the Melbourne City library.

Beth is featured as the top 100 writers in the London Spoken Word Anthology, and most recently had her work featured by the Times columnist; who published her poem 'Astronaut'. Beth was a guest speaker at the London LGBT poetry festival at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, and has just finished filming with ITV to be one of the spoken word voices for Nationwide.
